Poem 8- The Road

As I sail down the ribbon of black and yellow;

I turn the radio on to something mellow.

And as I cruise through this sea of black;

I begin to think and reminisce back.

I think of a time that was happy and care free;

and when things weren't so awkward between you and me.

I think back to when you were still the one;

And I wish some things hadn't been done.

I sit quietly in my chariot of steel;

And wish I could tell you just how I feel.

I can still feel my heart so heavy, and my stomach so meek;

Because of that one fateful day in that one fateful week.

And because I still carry this burdensome load;

I shall travel down this long, lonesome road.
